Games for January 2021

Campaign Title: Whispers of the Ancients

System: D&D 5E
Genre: Fantasy/Action & Adventure
Content Rating: Mature
Player Experience: All players (new/experienced).
Duration: Full block+
Number of Players: 3-6
Game Description: Welcome to the Creegan Archipelago, a thriving continent in the northern hemisphere of Statera. Since its colonization around 1000 years ago, civilization has spread across the continent, founding 16 countries. Creega boasts astounding natural beauty, new discoveries and an atmosphere that thrums with magical essence.

Though not all is well in Creega… Dark and mysterious plots are taking hold in the shadows, pests and monstrosities are becoming more numerous and war continues to threaten the eastern isles. The wind carries a voice whose influences are growing, and with it a spark that threatens the ignition of the most destruction, chaos and madness Creega and all Statera has ever witnessed…

The year is 1671 (PDU). Creega is 38 days into Fall and Frost’s icy grip is tightening. The Creegan Gladiator Championship Finals seem all but a distant memory now. The Fate Weaver works in mysterious ways as it seems the adventuring party known as Five Guise has undergone a change in membership following a run in with a mysterious cult calling themselves “The Followers of True Creation”. The cult preaches vengeance on the Gods for ancient wrongs that stem back to the creation of Statera itself. Its members seem capable of wielding magic powerful enough to summon nightmarish creatures that Five Guise are all too familiar with… Whatever the cult is doing, it can’t be good, and somehow this is all connected to mysterious magical stones harboring ancient magic. Five Guise’s investigation has taken them to an abandoned Geitefolk temple where the cult seeks to conduct a sinister ritual. Could this be the aforementioned spark that starts the fire?

GM Notes: Ongoing game. Current players have priority but welcome new players. We have space for at least 1 new player. Homebrew world and campaign. I relish backstory (liaise with me and let’s make your idea happen). Freedom to players to explore, develop backstories and establish themselves within the world and narrative.

Campaign Title: Devils Backbone 11: Brights Song of Ice or Fire

System: D&D 5e

They are laying waste to decades of stalemate and aggression in the nine hells, unionising the demon (maybe devils it’s hard for them to tell), and making friends where ever they go (maybe). Its hot, perpetual daylight and frankly dangerous. But they are having a blast.
But as others have said before “Winter is coming” and in the region just north of Neverwind, the saying is “winter has come and just won’t leave”.
Auril the Frostmaiden has cursed the lands known as Icewind Dale and the 10 towns have been plunged into eternal night. Its cold, dark, and miserable. But a great place to hid if you have a secret or two.

With the speakers of 10 towns losing all hope of C&V help, will another group of handsome and heroic adventures step up to heed the call…….maybe…..maybe not. Can an unlikely and frankly unusual group of loaners and lost souls banded together to keep the fight going in the depth of the frigid north?
The question is, can they survive the cold? Survive the sacrifices? Survive each other? Will Amberforth ever make an appearance? With the hoard get big enough to retire? and will they get to know each other’s deepest darkest secretes? Tune in next week, same snow time, same snow channel to find out.

GM Notes: With the Hells DM juggling new parenting duties with working and DMing, the colder DM will be stepping up for a bit, the story will swap between the heat of the hells and the frozen north over the next few blocks. Please also note out channel may have spoilers for both Decent into Avernis as well as the Rime of the Frostmaiden. The channel may also contained weird conversations, memes and pictures from “up north” not suitable for children and people of a weak disposition. Priority will be given to existing players.

Duration: 1 block
Number of players: 4-6
Game description: It’s the one shot group again! But this time I’ve run out of systems to learn, so we’ll probably be going back over some of the systems we’ve played and will be doing short campaigns of around 2-5 sessions. We’ll at the very least be doing an adventure in Tales from the Loop, but I’ve also got ideas for The Expanse, Cypher, Genesys, and Blades in the Dark.

Campaign title: Velocity

System: BRP Modified

With its revolutionary Dark Light Drive, AI and access to alien technology, ARC holds itself as the guiding light of humanity and yet that light has suddenly dimmed. ARC is retreating from the frontier worlds. The Varun League, the great experiment in uniting the old frontier, is under assault from within and without.

Under the guise of aiding in defending against a staged alien invasion, The Atlas Authority launched raids on a dozen star systems, then claimed the territory for its own. On The World of a Million Spires an AI has killed millions of people and experimented with Devourer human hybrid vessels. Groups in the Varun League Navy have tried to reclaim the wreckage as their own. Even as other groups in the Varun League government incite the alien Keeceeka to attack human star systems where they suspect Devourer infection. Finally, to ARC’s concern one of its own AI has been infected and gone rogue in its search for advanced alien technology.

With so many threats the group must find the thread that connects them all. Yet will it lead to restoring the peace or further escalation and unleashing The Devourer on humanity once more?

GM Notes: Velocity is an ongoing multi-genre space opera campaign in the Millennium setting. Players will be human but BRP has the flexibility to create anything from cartographers, to pilots, to soldiers.
